Police are appealing for information after a pub and a garage in Eddleston were broken into between March 28 and 29.

The break-ins took place at the Horse Shoe Inn between 250am and 310am on Tuesday 29th   March.  A garage at another home in the village was also broken into overnight.

Constable Ian Knipe from the Community Investigation Unit at Galashiels said: “Although nothing was taken during these housebreakings we would ask all local people to keep their property safe.  You can do this by taking simple things such as locking all windows and doors, as well as being vigilant and reporting anyone acting suspiciously to us.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that Police Scotland is doing everything we can to investigate these and other recent housebreakings in the area and we are keen to find those responsible.

“There is also lots of practical help and advice on home safety available on the Keep Safe section of the Police Scotland website http://www.scotland.police.uk/keep-safe/home-and-personal-property/secure-your-home.”

Anyone with information about these incidents should contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
