tynieAs the transfer window prepares to close, it’s been a busy day with comings and goings at Tynecastle.

Firstly, the departures. Striker Osman Sow is expected to sign for Chinese club Henan Jianye for a fee believed to be close to £1.5m. It’s a remarkable piece of business for Hearts given the Swedish striker is out of contract in the summer. Sow will link up with former Jambo Ryan McGowan who joined the club from Dundee United last week.

Defender Jordan McGhee is believed to be joining English Championship side Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season. It is believed this could be a permanent arrangement in the summer.

At the time of writing, it appeared likely midfielder Danny Swanson would be leaving Gorgie to re-join St Johnstone.

Midfielder Morgaro Gomis has agreed to join Motherwell, also on loan until the end of the season.

Now the arrivals. Nigerian striker Abiola Dauda has arrived at Tynecastle on loan from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem until the end of the season. Dauda, who has Swedish citizenship, has won league championships in Serbia and Sweden and has a reputation for being a powerful striker who has impressive pace.

Also arriving at Tynecastle is former Scotland international Don Cowie. The former Watford and Cardiff midfielder, who turns 33 in a couple of weeks, has signed a deal until May 2018. Cowie, who began his career in the Highlands with Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, played ten times for Scotland and his experience to the Tynecastle young brigade will be invaluable.

With the transfer window closing at midnight in Scotland, the Edinburgh Reporter understands that Hearts lengthy pursuit of Dundee United defender John Souttar will prove successful and the teenager would be joining the Maroons subject to passing a medical.

As I said – it’s been a busy day in Gorgie!
