bon papillon scones

Scones are always a hot topic in Edinburgh. Everyone has an opinion on them, everyone knows which cafés can make them –  and which cafés most definitely can’t.

Regular readers will know that Bon Papillon’s superlative offerings topped our totally personal Top Five Scones list* last year – and now you can have a lasting reminder of all those lime and ginger, blueberry, savoury, banana and goodness-knows-what flavours. No, it’s not a regular scone delivery (though there’s an idea….) – it’s a scone calendar!

Ingrid The Artist and Stuart The Sconemeister have put this masterpiece together to raise funds for local charity It’sGood2Give. The calendars cost a mere £5 each and have been selling like – well you know what like, as they say in Aberdeen….  There are still a few available, so make haste to Howe Street and snap up this year’s must-have present. I’ve got mine, and I can honestly say it’s much more fun than Tracy Island….

Bon Papillon is at 15 Howe Street. Opening hours are 9am-5pm Wednesday to Sunday, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

It’s Good 2 Give came into existence in 2010 and has already raised over £1.2m for local young people with cancer and their families through the hard work of founder, Lynne McNicoll OBE.

*The Top Five Scones in Edinburgh list will be revisited in early 2016: get your recommendations in now – I need plenty of time to try them all (it’s a hard job but…)
