A special evening of art, poetry and music, to help refugees, is being held at Northfield Willowbrae Community Centre on Saturday 28 November from 6.30 – 9 pm.
At the event, craft and artworks, contributed by the community, will be on sale. All proceeds will go to the charity, Re-Act, to support emergency winter supplies to refugees.
A spokesperson said: ‘People are shocked by the images of families forced to leave their homes and communities, everything, behind. We want to help in some way and have been overwhelmed by the response to our call for support. People from the community have given craft and artwork, and local schoolchildren, established artists and politicians have been quick to get behind this event.
We hope people will drop in on the 28th and buy something (prices start at £2) to show they understand the danger and difficulties faced by people who are fleeing for their lives.’
Admission is free and refreshments will be available. There is entertainment and accompanied children are welcome.
The community centre is at 10 Northfield Road, EH8 7PP and buses number 4 and 5 stop nearby.
