Edinburgh exhibition inspired by WWI Centenary and Great British achievers supports charities

World-leading body-cast sculptor, Louise Giblin, will exhibit work created by body, head and hand-casting celebrities and war at Urbane Art Gallery, 25 Jeffrey St, Edinburgh from 19 September- 4 October 2015.

Bronze plaques and designs detailing experiences of 2 retired members of the British Military will show alongside sculptures produced by head-casting Duncan Goodhew MBE, Michael Portillo, Olympian ex-BOA Chairman Lord Colin Moynihan and soul singer Reuben Richards; and body-casting ski racer and anti-landmine campaigner Heather Mills and ITV’s Dancing on Ice skater Daniel Whiston.

The artist, a Member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and sister to a war veteran, explained: ”This is a show about extraordinary people. My sculptures are carved with people’s passions or their achievements – while interviewing and researching , I was amazed by how modest these incredible people are.”

Also to be exhibited in the show – body-cast sculpture of Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes produced for a London 2012 exhibition.

Louise asked Heather Mills to participate for the show: ”Heather’s been very interested in both projects since they started in 2012. She’s an outstanding sportswoman and years of working with minefield clearance and providing prosthetics for 400,000 war victims amongst other things have given her insight and respect for what the veterans have experienced.”

Each of the models receives one of the limited edition of their sculpture, with others of the edition being displayed for sale with a proportion dedicated to charity. Members of the public are welcome to visit the gallery throughout the exhibition. Entry to the exhibition is free. http://www.urbaneart.co.uk
