We met local MP Joanna Cherry QC who was supporting the residents of Allan Park in their campaign against a planning application to demolish a house in Allan Park Crescent to form a roadway into the site beyond.

There have been incidences of flooding in this area and residents are fearful that any kind of development there could mean these would reoccur.

Between 18-21 May, the Royal Yacht Britannis have some very special visitors for you to meet, as they welcome back former Royal Yachtsmen, or ‘Yotties’ as they are affectionately known, for a reunion week.

Donning their white overalls once again, the Yotties will work alongside the ship’s current Maintenance team and give you the chance to hear first-hand experiences of what life was like for the 240 crew when the yacht was in service. You may even catch a re-enactment of their traditional rum ceremony.

A highlight during Yotties’ Week will be an afternoon concert on 20th May by the Musical Mariners Band, made up of 19 ex Royal Marines musicians, many of whom served on board Britannia.
