Andy Neal is at his desk in Essential Edinburgh’s office on George Street for the last day today. Mr Neal is retiring to a more leisurely life as a non-exec director elsewhere. We met him earlier this morning to hear what he had to say about the organisation and his thoughts on what working there has meant to him.

Essential Edinburgh is the Business Improvement District for the city centre. They charge businesses in their area a levy which is then used to promote the area as a place for business, shopping or visiting. One of their key roles is to keep the area clean, and their levy payers can call upon their clean up service on an emergency basis.

The body was voted back in after a successful first term and now has a business plan looking forward to 2018.
