The Lord Provost the Rt Hon Donald Wilson conveyed a message from Her Majesty The Queen and raised the Commonwealth Flag above the City Chambers this morning to mark Commonwealth Day on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council.
It is expected that 500 flags will be raised across the UK on Monday to mark the family of 53 Commonwealth countries.
The Lord Provost advised the following message sent from Her Majesty, The Queen:-
“I am pleased to learn that so many people will be taking part in the ‘Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth’ initiative on Monday 1Oth March, which will see a record number of Commonwealth flags being raised on one day. I send my good wishes to all who are taking part.”
