2011_10 Police signs 5

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision which happened around 8.20pm last night in Colinton Mains Drive.

A Number 4 bus had just set off from the stop adjacent to the TESCO store when it was involved in a collision with a male pedestrian.

The 51-year-old sustained significant head and arm injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before being transferred to the Western General, where he remains in a serious condition.

Road Policing Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries into this collision to come forward.

Sergeant Brian Smith said: “At this time we are trying to establish exactly what happened during this incident, which has resulted in a man sustaining serious injuries.

“Motorists and members of the public who were in the area at the time and have information relevant to our investigation are asked to contact police immediately.”
