Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a Bed and Breakfast in Tranent.

The incident happened around 10.30am on Sunday 2nd February 2014 at the property in Carlaverock Avenue.

The female proprietor was restrained by a male guest and robbed of a three-figure sum of cash.

Local enquiries are being conducted in Tranent and Edinburgh to trace this male and anyone who can assist police with their investigation is asked to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8ins – 5ft 10ins, early forties with a slim build, ginger hair and with a west of Scotland accent. He was wearing a blue anorak, jeans and was in possession of a grey holdall.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The woman was uninjured during this incident, but was left very distressed at ordeal.

“Anyone who can help identify the male responsible is asked to contact police immediately.

“We would particularly appeal to the owners of bed and breakfast establishments who may recognise the description.”
