The family of Yulia Solodyankina have today thanked those who assisted in the search for their daughter.

Yulia was reported missing in Edinburgh in June 2013 and a significant police investigation was undertaken to establish here whereabouts.

During the missing person enquiry, many members of the public, including Yulia’s friends and university classmates made a number of independent appeals for information.

The 22-year-old’s body was found in a rural area near to Arrochar on Thursday 9th January. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement issued via Police Scotland, Yulia’s mother Ekaterina and father Dimitri said: “We would like to express our gratitude to the police officers in Edinburgh (particularly Craigmillar station), Argyll (particularly Helensburgh) and all across Scotland, Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh, staff of Edinburgh University, all Yulia’s friends and everyone who was helping us for what they have been doing since disappearance of our daughter Yulia in June 2013.

“This support and assistance made it easier for us to cope with our loss.”
