Police are appealing for witnesses to a single-vehicle road traffic collision in West Lothian yesterday (Tuesday, December 24, 2013) in which the 20-year-old driver subsequently died.

The accident happened about 11:05am when a Vauxhall Astra travelling west on the A705 approximately ½ mile east of Seafield, at Cousland Farm, West Lothian, collided with a tree.

Both the driver, Louis Kefferty (20), from Seafield, West Lothian, and Lauren White his 18-year-old passenger were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where Mr Kefferty died late last night. The passenger has serious, but non life-threatening, injuries.

The road was closed for five hours following the collision and officers are appealing for any witnesses to the accident, or who saw the red Vauxhall Astra on the A705 prior to the collision.

Sergeant Brian Jones, who is leading the investigation, said: “This tragic collision appears to have involved only one car, however I am appealing to anyone who saw the collision or was driving on this road around this time and has any information which can assist us to call Police Scotland on 101 or provide the information through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
