20130927_101021Residents came together for the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning last week.

Back in August Muirhouse community shop decided to sign up to take part in the biggest coffee morning in aid for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Fundraising started immediately and included the following:-

*Sold Lady Boys tickets which were donated
*Hired out a fridge
*Guessed how many sweets were in the jar competition
*Raffled tickets for cinema vouchers

Leading up to 27 September we asked residents for their help; we needed cakes for our coffee morning and in true Muirhouse style they delivered. We had lots of cakes for our coffee morning and our volunteer Joan had been busy collecting goods for a tombola.

Last Friday we opened the door at 9.30am and were greeted with several residents waiting to get in. Straight to the tombola table they went, within minutes we had residents winning prizes and money going in to the till. It got busier and busier as the morning went on and before lunch time the majority of the cakes had been bought.

Whilst the money was coming in the residents enjoyed a good banter with one another and not to forget the free Tea and Coffee.

It was fantastic day, lots of residents came in and showed their support for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We had always hoped to raise in the region of £250 which is an absolutely fantastic figure; well we smashed that!

We raised a impressive £610.09 ( this includes £100 from St Andrews Church )

Thank you so much to every single residents who showed their support for such a worthy charity.
