Queensferry RNLI are recruiting volunteer lifeboat crew members

Queensferry lifeboat station has vacancies for trainee lifeboat crew members who would need to live or work in the Queensferry area.

Two recruitment sessions will be held at the lifeboat station, based at Hawes Pier. The first is on Saturday 20 July 2013 between 12 and 2pm, then Tuesday 30 July 2013 between 7pm and 9pm. These events will be a chance to meet and talk to serving crew and station management.

Prospective crew members should be aged between 17 and 45, physically fit, able to pass a medical and eyesight test, be a team player and have some spare time to be able to train and make a commitment.

You might also have to do something like this….

David Smart, Lifeboat Operations Manager said: ‘I would encourage anyone that is interested to come along and find out what is involved in being part of the RNLI’.

Only one in ten crew members come from a maritime background. The RNLI provides first class training and equipment, guidance and support.
Volunteering with us offers you the opportunity to make a real difference to your local community, to save lives and be part of an internationally recognised organisation.

In 2012, the RNLI saved 449 lives around the coast of the British Isles and the Republic of Ireland and currently has over 4600 volunteer lifeboat crew plus the support of 3000 shore crew and management.
