Sir Chris Hoy – Bus routes change today – Council Live webcasting – Leith Waterworld – Twitter 24

Sir Chris Hoy is going to be awarded the Freedom of the City of Edinburgh tomorrow, and there will also be a parade of Olympians and Paralympians on an open top bus. Full details here of the timing of the parade. But STV Edinburgh have a great article telling you who all the people on the bus are.

From today the east end of Princes Street is reopened to buses and so there are changes to many bus services. You can get full details of what is happening here on Lothian Buses website. As we reported the other day the bus station is to remain open now for the remainder of the tram project. Good news indeed.

The council are going to be showing off what they actually do at Council meetings live online here from the full council meeting next Thursday 20 September. This is a pilot project which will run for a year, and if you miss the live edition then you can watch it as an archive film. You can also join in the debate by using a hashtag on Twitter #edinwebcast

One of the main items on the council agenda on Thursday is the future of Leith Waterworld, which was closed in January of this year. The council is recommended to reject the community bid from the campaign group, Splashback according to the agenda and reports produced in advance of the meeting.

There were only two bids received for the lease of the property, both from Splashback.

On Wednesday this week The Reporter is taking to two wheels to cover a route between the red bridge over Ferry Road and Leith Library. We will be tweeting as we go from around 9.30 as part of the council’s Twitter 24 event which starts on Tuesday at 12 noon. You can read more about it here on the council website or you can join in the Twitter discussion by using the hashtags #mycouncil #Edin24. This is part of a Scotland wide Twitter 24 hours, and is designed to show you what the council do. We will be tweeting photos from our route and telling you what we see! (We might even manage a bit of video……) Our tweets will of course show up on the top right hand side of our website here….
