The world’s biggest sports retailer opens in Edinburgh’s Hermiston Gait Retail Park on Thursday this week with the help of some of Scotland’s biggest sports stars.
Scotland athlete Lee McConnell, rugby captain Ali Kellock and tennis gold medallist Joss Rae will officially launch the store at the VIP event tomorrow, which marks the opening of Decathlon’s 715th store worldwide.
To continue the celebrations, the store will hold a family fun day on Saturday 26 November with activities for all the family, including a climbing wall, snowboard simulator, speed cage and inflatable rugby.
Store manager Emma Sokol said:- “We’re thrilled to be opening our second Scottish store and encouraging sport participation in Edinburgh. Having sport stars like Ali Kellock, Joss Rae and Lee McConnell on hand to help celebrate our launch will hopefully inspire youngsters to try their hand at a new sport, or even to improve their game. Of course, people of all ages can come and try out some new activities at our family fun day on Saturday.”
Decathlon is the world’s biggest sports retailer with over 700 stores across the globe, offering sports goods, clothing and accessories for 70 different sports. With one other store in Glasgow, they have plans to expand across Scotland.
