There is a real autumnal nip in the air this weekend. But all you outdoors enthusiasts will be out running or cycling anyway no doubt. A new business has started which will make it easier for city cyclists to get down to Peebles-shire for the real outdoor experience. Bike Bus Glentress will take you and your bike to the countryside. To book the Bike Bus, find out about fares or ask about Bike Bus Glentress guiding service, call 07549145634 or visit the website.

More outdoor activity at The Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival today. The BBC has an interview with Karina Hollekim, the base jumper whose parachute failed to open, but who lived to tell the tale.

Yesterday there was a bit of a ‘fowl smell’ in the city, but the sleuths at STV Local traced it to a chicken farm at Gogarbank. There was always a similar smell from the Marshall’s Chunky Chicks factory at Newbridge when it was still in operation.

Something else brand new in the city to tell you about is Union of Genius which is opening at 8 Forrest Road later this month. The shop is all about soup, different kinds of soup with locally sourced ingredients and artisan bread. Mmmm sounds good!

Edinburgh gets 75 new jobs and the promise of more from the announcement by Avaloq that they are opening a new office in the capital. The Swiss software company specialise in banking products. We found it astonishing that there are 2000 computer science graduates in Scotland each year, but the company has said this is one of the reasons why they chose Edinburgh over other cities around the world.
