And we are not talking about the Festival….

Jungle City Edinburgh will be staged from 16 August in Edinburgh to draw attention to the endangered species in the world. Paterson Arran in Livingston today met their very own Orangutan called Tangy who swung by to help turn out the biscuits…..The company commissioned a giant life sized sculpture of an orangutan. The ‘Spirit of Indonesia’ sculpture was designed and painted by renowned Scottish artist Lex McFadyen.

This will be the largest outdoor art exhibition to be staged in the capital. Tangy will join over 120 other endangered jungle animal species sculptures at the Royal Botanic Gardens before being positioned in and around the capitals streets

Pictured with Tangy is Paterson Arran marketing manager Amy Coles, marketing manager of Paterson Arran, who said:-“As lifelong members of the UK Orangutan Foundation and committed to the protection of the habitat of this endangered species, Paterson Arran is proud to support the Jungle City fundraising campaign and we hope the public will enjoy meeting our loveable orang-utan when he swings into Edinburgh later this month.”

Organisers hope “Tangy” officially named ‘Spirit of Indonesia’ and his jungle friends will prove to be eye-catching and fun star attractions as Jungle City aims to raise in excess of £1million for Elephant Family and six other UK conservation charities (including the Orangutan Foundation) committed to protecting the planets most endangered animals.

While the public will be able to view Paterson Arran’s loveable orangutan and his friends in the Royal Botanic Gardens from 16 August, on 6 September the jungle animals will be ‘unleashed’ to view in and around some of Edinburgh’s most famous landmarks and streets – including the Royal Mile and Princes Street.
