Company Chameleon will be returning to Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year to perform an extract from their show Rites at Dance Base and an outdoor performance of Search and Find.

Company Chameleon have been busy performing Search and Find at outdoor festivals this summer and are looking forward to returning to Edinburgh. Rites was part of CC’s first ever major work forming half of their Kith/Kin show – which toured across the UK & internationally in 2011 – and was described as being “intelligently structured, nicely detailed and danced with an energy that is sincere rather than flashy” – Mary Brennan.

Company Chameleon aim to tackle challenging issues in inventive ways through their work, allowing the viewer access and inclusion to the art of dance. As well as performing across the UK & internationally, CC create and develop international workshops such as their Stride project in order to create something longer lasting working alongside artists, youth groups and performance venues.

Rites made up one half of their show Kith/Kin which toured in 2010 and focuses on Rites of Passage shared by men. The work contains themes of coming of age, peer pressure as well as the personal and shared histories of the two CC dancers – Anthony Missen and Kevin Turner. It also studies rituals of men in a more universal context. Search and Find explores one’s connections and disconnections with others and features an original sound score from composer Miguel Martin. The piece will be performed outside for the festival.

CC’s performance at Edinburgh precedes their upcoming premiere of Gameshow in Autumn 2011, a new work based on the idea that one person has it and the other really wants it. Gameshow promises glitz and glamour and will then be touring across the UK and internationally in Spring 2012.
