This weekend there are so many things going on in Edinburgh. Perhaps you are taking part in the Meadows Marathon? If you are, then please upload some photos to our Flickr Photostream! Or maybe you are about to give away some books for World Book Night – do tell us how it goes!

Here is how Edinburgh Libraries are celebrating World Book Night.

Police in Edinburgh got the bus to Carlisle yesterday in an effort to find out what happened to Edinburgh woman, Betty Brown, whose body was found in a wood in Cumbria. More on the BBC.

The City of Edinburgh Council has just voted on the budget cuts only last month. These cuts are widespread and affect many people in the city. So it is rather bad timing that the council should seek to spend £30,000 of their budget on a commemorative painting and stained glass window to highlight the work of the last two Provosts George Grubb and Lesley Hinds….. But the important thing to note is that some of this expense has not just been voted on. The window showing a likeness of Councillor Hinds was actually ordered four years ago…… This is something on the agenda at the full Council meeting which takes place on Thursday at The City Chambers.

And today we are highlighting the two Edinburgh friends who are setting out on a fund-raising trip in May to cycle from Greece to Edinburgh – but they need two bikes and some other equipment. Can you help?
