Edinburgh motor racing prospect, Rachel Robertson, 18, continues to dazzle in her first full season in F1 Academy races.
The series, which runs in support of the main Formula One programme on the same tracks over the same weekends, saw Rachel finish tenth out of 18 competitors in her opening race in Shanghai last month.
Alas, she didn’t finish her second race, remarking on social media “made a rookie error in race two but it is all part of the learning.”
Rachel’s dad Colin, a former Trinity Accies and Heriot’s rugby player, told the Edinburgh Reporter: “Considering Rachel has a lot less experience than most of her rivals it was a decent start especially as she proved she has the pace (in her Hi Tech sponsored car) to be competitive.
“After the scheduled race in Jeddah was cancelled due to the Middle East conflict it is on now to Montreal (22-24 May) and then Silverstone (July 3-5) when family and friends will be there to lend support.”
Rachel has also been grabbing headlines off the track, notably featuring on the front page of The Times with a photograph captioned “meet the latest British prodigy shaking up the world of F1”.
