Future UK-EU Relations – the State of Play – an expert panel discussion.
The nature of UK-EU Relations continues to be a major focus of politics, generating significant questions and negotiations. Some agreements have been reached, including on Erasmus+, fishing and energy cooperation. Negotiations continue on issues such as food safety, animal and plant health standards and emission trading systems but in other areas discussions are slower.
That is why this year’s Festival of Europe (Scotland)includes several events which highlight these pressing conversations. We invite you to come along and join in these discussions. Distinguished speakers will share their expertise with time to ask questions and foster discussions.
On Sunday morning there will be a discussion highlighting “Future UK EU Relations – the State of Play”.
Our speakers include David Henig, Director of the UK Trade Policy Project at the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), Alyn Smith, former SNP MEP and MP, Martin Johnson, Director, Scottish Government EU Directorate, Angela Mathis, Chief Executive, ThinkTank Maths, William Bain, Head of Trade Policy, British Chambers of Commerce and Allie Renison, Director SEC Newgate UK, former policy adviser to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade.
The event will be chaired by Fiona Wishlade, former Professor at European Policies Research Centre, University of Strathclyde, and currently Vice-Chair of the European Movement in Scotland.
This event is an opportunity for a refreshed and up-to-date conversation on Europe, the UK and Scotland.
