The Redbraes Raceway, Powderhall, home to the Edinburgh Falcons, will host an extravaganza of cycle speedway over the weekend of 30-31 May with both the Home Internationals on the Saturday and the Battle of Britain meeting on the Sunday.
Over the two days Edinburgh Falcons, current and ex, will feature strongly .
The Women’s Pairs will open the racing on the Saturday at 11am followed by the Juniors with two young Falcons ,Nathan Slight and Alexander Rudge, taking to the track. Edinburgh’s Alex Matthews will manage the Scottish pair.
Next on the shale in the Veterans category are long serving Falcon, Neil McPherson and ex-Falcon Jason Keith, for Scotland going head to head with England’s ex-British Veteran Champion and current Falcon, Gavin Parr .
Last on track on the Saturday is the Open category where the England manager has shrewdly named two ex Falcons Ed Morton and one time junior world number two, Lewis Foxley, who spent the first seven years of his career with the Falcons. Ex Falcon Jake Slight will compete against them.
The last time Scotland beat England at this level was 40 years ago under the stewardship of Edinburgh’s David Baxter .
Sunday action which includes Junior and Open categories starts at noon with the Regional event, the Battle of Britain. Falcons selected by Junior team manager Alex Matthews to race for the North and Scotland team are Nathan Slight and Alexander Rudge
