A woman was airlifted from Arthur’s Seat after suffering a fall on Sunday evening.

Emergency services were initially called to Holyrood Park at around 6.40pm but rescue workers shortly decided that a helicopter rescue would be required because of the woman’s tricky position.

A Coastguard helicopter was dispatched and hovered over the scene for some time before swooping onto the hillside to make the rescue.

They passed the casualty on to waiting ambulance crews at the park and she was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

“An ambulance and four special operations response teams (SORT) were dispatched to the scene. One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by road.”
