Warehouses handling thousands of small packaged products need picking systems that can maintain both speed and accuracy. A-FRAME is an automated dispensing and order-picking solution designed specifically for this type of operation. Products are stored in vertical channels and automatically released in the required quantity into cartons, totes, buckets or onto a conveyor according to each order.

How the A-FRAME system works

The system combines storage, dispensing, order collection and control modules. Goods are placed in vertical channels arranged in an A-shaped structure. When an order is received, the control system identifies the required SKU and quantity, after which the picking mechanism releases the products into the order flow. The collected items can then continue directly to inspection and packing.

A-FRAME is particularly suitable for fast-moving small products such as pharmaceuticals, medical items, cosmetics and packaged e-commerce goods. It works with products ranging from 40 × 25 × 20 mm to 220 × 160 × 100 mm and can process up to 3,000 orders per hour, with an ejection speed of up to five units per second.

Flexible configuration for different warehouses

The basic configuration includes 24 channels, with 12 positioned on each side. Thanks to KAPELOU’s modular architecture, additional channels can be added as order volumes or product ranges increase. Individual channels can also be adjusted for products of different dimensions.

A-FRAME supports Pick-to-Belt, Pick-to-Tote, Pick-to-Bucket and Pick-to-Carton workflows. It can operate as an independent picking system or become part of a larger automated warehouse solution.

Another practical advantage is replenishment without stopping the picking process. This allows warehouses to maintain continuous order processing while reducing repetitive manual picking and creating a more predictable fulfilment flow.
