This concert performance of Mozart’s daring opera of seduction, trickery and retribution was superbly performed by the magnificent Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Chorus under the dab hand of Maxim Emelyanychev.
All of the individual singers also gave splendid renditions of Lorenzo da Ponte’s words, but special mention must go to Hera Hyesang Park as Zerlina.
She imbued such energy and fun that I found it hard to take my eyes off her even when she wasn’t singing.
The use of the stage including the steps, doors, and open space was imaginative and engaging.
All of the stage set was arranged by the singers and orchestra themselves. It seemed no overall director decided how these talented artists were to express an opera in concert conditions.
Glorious! I feel that this was one of the best productions of this famous work I have experienced.
