Hearts’ head coach, Wouter Vranken, believes that the Men in Maroon will have to produce a “pretty perfect” display to claw back their 4-0 deficit and advance to the next qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Belgian told a press briefing at Tynecastle that he players must believe that is achievable ahead of Tuesday’s second-leg at Tynecastle (19.45).
He hopes they produce a truly memorable night for the packed crowd at the atmospheric stadium, and Vrancken said: “You never know what is going to happen.”
Hearts were only 1-0 down after the first 45 minutes at Sturm Graz, and could have snatched two goals, but then collapsed in nine, nightmare, second-half minutes.
Looking back at the game, the 45-year-old coach said that between both penalty boxes “it was pretty OK” last Tuesday in the first leg but he stressed that Hearts need to be have more “efficiency” in both boxes.
Despite the result, he is looking forward to savouring his first taste of a full house at Tynecastle and he has no doubt that the fans will back the players picked to the hilt.
But the head coach warned said: “When you want to make up four goals, everything has to go right.”
