Scotland women continue their build-up for the FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and The Netherlands later this summer with a second joust against India under-21 at Peffermill on Monday night (push-back 7.30pm).
They edged the tourists 3-2 at the rain-soaked University of Edinburgh playing fields on Sunday, dominating large sections of the entertaining game.
Scotland led 1-0 through a strike from Great Britain international, Amy Costello, a former Invereith player, following a penalty corner, in the first half and moved 2-0 ahead later in the contest thanks to a goal from Zara Kennedy.
India pulled one back but Scotland upped their tempo and claimed a third from Heather McEwan before a defensive slip allowed the visitors to cash in and reduce the deficit near the end.
Scotland game managed to the final whistle and head coach, Chris Duncan, and his backroom team will scrutinize the tapes in a bid to secure a win double in the second game against energetic and talented opponents.
For the record, Scotland are in Pool B in the world cup and face Argentina, Germany and America in Wavre, Belgium, a town with a population of 34,305 in the Dyle Valley, 37 miles (32.8km) from Brussels.
The Tartan Hearts open against Germany, ranked No 5 in the world, on Saturday, August 15 (10.30) and then face USA, a country rated No 11 in the standings, on Monday, August 17 (10am) before finishing their pool against Argentina, ranked No 2 in the world, on Wednesday, August 19 (10am). All games are at the Belfius Hockey Arena.
