Picardy Place nightclub to host international debut of hit Nashville country rock musical

A PICARDY PLACE venue will host the international debut of an award-winning country rock musical created by a former touring musician for Robbie Williams and One Direction.

Oil & Whiskey, a dramedy about two ex-lovers meeting for a drink, will run for a special one-week engagement at PBH’s Free Fringe before heading to London.

The production was created by Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Kit Nolan alongside award-winning playwright Dax Wiley.

First debuted at the 2025 New York City Fringe Festival where it won the Sold Out award, the musical will perform at The Street nightclub on Picardy Place from 23 to 30 August.

Following its Scottish run, the production will transfer to the Old Red Lion Pub Theatre in London for a three-week Off West End run.

Described as “The Last Five Years meets Nashville Honky Tonk”, the story follows two former partners who relive their entire relationship over a couple of rounds of whiskey, serving as a reminder of why people should not contact their exes.

Co-creator Kit Nolan is making his musical theatre debut with the project, having previously toured globally as the Music Director for Lindsey Stirling and as a session musician for artists including Robbie Williams and One Direction.

His creative partner Dax Wiley has previously written and produced immersive musicals across the US, including The Limbo Lounge and Good Fishermen Know A Lot About Sex.

The musical’s score leans into the recent resurgence of Americana, promising audiences an authentic country rock cabaret concert akin to an evening at the Grand Ole Opry.

Critical reception in the US has praised the production, with Broadway World describing it as a “country rock fireball that reminds you to never hit up your ex.”
