A luxury Italian gelato brand will open its first Scottish venue in the Old Town this Friday (JUL 17) offering locals a range of sweet treats.

The shop on 27 North Bridge will be Amorino’s 45th site in the UK, with popular restaurants already in Birmingham, London and Newcastle.

Amorino will offer handcrafted gelato in popular flavours such as tiramisu, cremino, stracciatella and amarena seven days a week for takeaway, including a late 2am closing time on Fridays and Saturdays.

Vittoria Hospitality Group is opening the store, adding Amorino to their portfolio including Taste of Italy, Bertie’s Proper Fish & Chips, Vittoria and Divino.

Director Leandro Crolla said the opening will mark a new chapter for the family.

Leandro said: “Bringing Amorino to Scotland marks a really exciting new chapter for us as a family. We’re really looking forward to introducing the people of Edinburgh to authentic Italian gelato this summer, and creating a space that locals and visitors alike can enjoy.”

The site will be Amorino’s 360th worldwide after it was found in 2002 by Italians Cristiano Sereni and Paolo Benassi. Their most famous export is the flower-shaped “petal gelato” which offers multiple flavours on one cone.

Amorino will be open from 12pm on 17 July and will be open from 11am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 11am to 2am Fridays and Saturdays.
