Edinburgh youngster Halle Glasgow danced her way to glory at the recent Global Dance Open in Spain.
The 11-year-old was crowned the best in the world for her age group at the prestigious annual event which was staged over seven days in San Sebastian.
Halle was competing as a member of the Southside Dance Company from Bonnyrigg, and blew the judges away with her performance to the soundtrack of Adele’s Love In The Dark in the category 9-11 Solo Lyrical.
The youngster, who will start her first year at Dalkeith High School after the summer holidays, has been dancing for three years and all her hard work paid off handsomely with the gold medal display.
Mum Kerri Glasgow, whose daughter Elyssa was also competing, said: “Watching my girls Halle and Elyssa represent Scotland at the Global Dance Open made me so incredibly proud.
“The hard work, dedication and passion they put into every performance is amazing to see.
“Halle winning a gold medal is something I will never forget and neither will she. This is a memory we are all going to cherish forever.
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to all the sponsors for their help getting the girls to the competition. Their generosity was really appreciated.”
Founded in 2020, the Global Dance Open has quickly become one of the fastest-growing dance competitions in the world, providing a global stage for dancers, choreographers, teachers, studios, and countries to showcase their skills, potential, and artistry.
There were 22 members of the Southside team in Spain and choreographer and teacher Rachael Skillen said: “I am absolutely bursting with pride after an incredible week at the Global Dance Open Finals.
“Watching my dancers perform on such a prestigious international stage and seeing months of hard work come to life was so rewarding.
“One of the biggest highlights was watching Halle Glasgow win the gold medal for her lyrical solo. Her performance was absolutely perfect, she poured her heart and soul into it and every hour of dedication truly paid off!
“Another unforgettable moment was our Large Group Lyrical being awarded the silver medal in the highly competitive 12–14 years category. To achieve this against such an outstanding standard of dancers from around the world is something the entire team should be incredibly proud of!”
