An 80-year-old man has died following a one-vehicle crash on the A198 at Longniddry earlier this morning.
The incident happened at around 6am on Friday, 26 June, 2026 on the A198, approximately three-quarters of a mile east of the Lyars Road junction.
Emergency services attended and the 80-year-old sole occupant and driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware.
The road was closed and reopened at around 12.10pm.
Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died as a result of the crash this morning.
“I’d ask anyone who saw this vehicle, a white Dacia Sandero, prior to the collision driving on the coastal road around Longniddry this morning, to contact officers.
“Anyone who saw what happened and has not yet provided information to police are also asked to contact us.”
