Glenn Whelan praised the commitment of his players since he arrived at Almondvale and he reported that there were no injuries after the 2-0 victory over William Hill Premiership combine, Dundee FC in a pre-season friendly.
The former Republic of Ireland international was also pleased that things that he has worked on in training were shown during the game against the Tayside team.
Head coach Whelan, speaking to Livingston TV, admitted: “We had to pick the players up from what happened last season. What is done is done and dusted. It is about moving on.”
Dublin-born Whelan, who made over 700 senior appearances and earned 91 caps for the Republic, wants to see more goals scored and concede less and get the confidence of the players up as well as seeing improvements in all departments.
He said: “It is baby steps. It was Premiership opposition (in Dundee) and it was pleasing to come away with a win, but, first and foremost, we have no injuries.”
The 42-year-old added: “It is a new season, new voice coming in and we want to be really positive. The eagerness from the lads has been great and the enthusiasm from the lads has been great.
“I’ll be trying to bottle that up and keep it going.”
