Defender Michael Steinwender is leaving Hearts of Midlothian to join a German club, it has been confirmed.
The 26-year-old made 47 appearances for the Jambos after arriving from a Swedish club in January 2025.
He’s off to VfL Bochum and moves to the 2.Bundesliga side on July 1st for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
Meanwhile, media reports indicate that Hearts want Belgian-born Wouter Vrancken as their new head coach.
The 47-year-old steered Belgian side Sint-Truiden to third spot in the Pro League last season, their best finishing position for 60 years.
Sint-Truiden is his hometown club and he played for them for several years. He took them from a relegation-threatened outfit into title contenders despite having only a modest budget compared to heavyweights in the division.
Finally, the club’s shop will be closed for annual stocktaking on Sunday, June 28, and Monday, June 29.
