Hibs fans can relive or learn more about the Club’s proud, honourable and intriguing history, as a brand-new documentary entitled ‘I Am Hibs’ is due for release on Friday 5 June 2026.
Filmed by Director Matteo Zara ahead of the celebration of the 150th anniversary, ‘I Am Hibs’ is a look back at the Club’s history and the run to success in the Scottish Cup in 2016, during which Hibs ended an 114-year wait to lift the trophy at Hampden Park.
That day Hibs clinched a first Scottish Cup since 1902 and it is widely regarded as one of the greatest days in the Club’s history – with current Head Coach David Gray poetically scoring the dramatic late winner against Rangers.
The documentary starts with supporters sharing their stories behind falling in love with Hibs with each individual story unique to every supporter.
Some were born near Easter Road Stadium, while others’ families supported the team, and others watched a certain player.
In the film, dozens of interviews were conducted, including Joe McAvoy, Steven Carr MBE, Jason Tucker, current Women’s Head Coach Joelle Murray and Hibs Under-19s Head Coach Darren McGregor.
Among the many unforgettable stories, McAvoy – like all-time record goalscorer and appearance maker Gordon Smith – worked with shipbuilding company Henry Robb in Leith Docks, while Carr told the inspirational story behind ‘Dnipro Kids’, which was set up by Hibernian FC fans when we played a UEFA Cup tie against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in 2005.
Supporter Tucker has become an adopted Leither since arriving from Sierra Leone as a child, and he shared his journey as a Hibs fans and how it’s become his ‘second home’.
Meanwhile, Murray and McGregor looked back to where it all began in Chirnside and Leith respectively, before sharing their success stories on their way to becoming Club legends.
