Peter Murrell has arrived at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday for the first of two court appearances this month.
Following his guilty plea last week, the former CEO of the SNP was remanded in custody by Lord Young.
After speculation that he would only attend the hearing on Tuesday by video link, he arrived in a prison van.
Peter Murrell has admitted embezzlement charges relating to the sum of £400,310.65 – reduced from the original figure of £459,046.49 by agreement with the prosecution. He spent this sum on a wide variety of goods, some of which he and his estranged wife, Nicola Sturgeon, have been photographed using. The funds came from the SNP and were spent through various credit cards in his name and the names of other SNP staff members.
On Tuesday the details of how the embezzlement was carried out are expected to be narrated in court.
