FORMER SNP chief executive, Peter Murrell, has pled guilty to embezzling more than £400,000 in party funds at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday morning (MAY 25).
He has been remanded in custody, with BBC News reporting that Murrell was “handcuffed and led from the dock after his guilty plea.”
Murrell, who was married to former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon from 2010 until they separated in 2025, served as the party’s chief executive from 2001 and 2023.
Murrell was accused of “illicitly purchasing items including luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars and a motorhome” between August 2010 and October 2022.
The Judge, Lord Young told Murrell that his actions were a “gross breach of trust”. The case will come back to court on 2 June.
