Edinburgh’s First Hibernian author Mike Hennessy and Sean Bradley of Thirsty Books, publisher of the biography of the Club’s founder Canon Edward Hannan, have presented a cheque for some £1660 to Gordon Mackay of the Hibernian Historical Trust.
The total donated is equivalent to author’s royalties from the first 6 months’ sales of the book, which brings new insights into the goings-on in the second half of 19th century Edinburgh through the lens of an Irish priest, Edward Hannan, who arrived at St Patrick’s church in the Cowgate in 1861 – and so much more.
Copies will be available for purchase at Easter Road this Saturday at the Club’s Open Door Day, with all author royalties continuing to be donated to the Hibernian Historical Trust.
A Hibs spokesperson said: “We are grateful for the ongoing support from the Historical Trust throughout our 150th Anniversary celebrations.”
