The former leader of the SNP group on Edinburgh council, and recently elected MSP for Edinburgh Southwestern, Simita Kumar, is now a junior minister in the new cabinet.
Cllr Kumar is now Minister-Designate for Equalities & International Development.
The ministerial appointments are provisional until their appointment is formally agreed to by Parliament and approved by His Majesty King Charles III.
Parliament will be asked to approve the appointments on Thursday.
Excluding the Law Officers, the overall size of government is down from 28 in 2024. The new ministerial team has been reduced to 20, including the First Minister and Deputy First Minister.
Cllr Kumar was elected at the 7 May election with a majority of 3,289 votes.
