David Gray has provided an update on the availability of several players ahead of tomorrow night’s visit to Ibrox.
The head coach expects Josh Mulligan to be available for Hibs matchday squad against Rangers for the first time in almost four months.
The midfielder has been out of action since January, after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury following Hibs Scottish Cup match with Dunfermline Athletic.
But having been back in training over the past couple of weeks at HTC, Gray confirmed Mulligan is fit to return to the squad if selected for Wednesday’s William Hill Premiership clash at Ibrox Stadium.
Speaking to Hibs TV, he said: “I know I spoke post-match [at Falkirk] about Josh Mulligan and not taking the chance on that surface.
“He’s never done any rehab on that surface, and we didn’t know how it would react, so given that he hadn’t played any minutes at all and had been out for a long time, we didn’t feel it was a risk we could take.
“As a result of that, he’s had more training over the weekend, and he’s fully fit and available if selected and falls into contention for the squad tomorrow night with it being on a grass surface.
“What that does as well is give everybody a lift. I’ve seen that in the last ten days, and we’ve got competition for places, as always, and he certainly adds freshness as well.”
The boss also gave a positive update on Rocky Bushiri, who was absent from the matchday squad at Falkirk last weekend after sustaining a minor hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Munashe Garananga was back on the bench at Falkirk Stadium, while Jamie McGrath will serve the second of a two-game ban against Danny Röhl’s side.
Rudi Molotnikov remains out for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
He added: “He (Rocky Bushiri) had a minor hamstring issue. That was another one where, if it had been the last game of the season, maybe we’d have looked at it a little bit differently.
“The fact Granty (Grant Hanley) was returning from suspension and Gara (Munashe Garananga) was back available meant it wasn’t really a risk we had to take at that stage.
“As a result, the extra couple of days have done him the world of good.
“He’s trained the last couple of days and is feeling good, so he falls into contention for the squad as well.”
