Home hero Chris Harris was the pre-event favourite for the Ben Fund Bonanza at Glasgow, but it was his former Tigers team-mate, Dan Thompson, who took the honours.
The 21-year-old from near Nuneaton is now Edinburgh Monarchs’ No 1 and he also rides for Leicester Lions in the Premiership. Thompson saw off a quality field to take the top spot on the podium.
Second was Kevin Juhl Pedersen of Glasgow Tigers with Peter Kildemand (pictured) of Berwick Bandits and Premiership combine, Belle Vue Aces, third.
Aussie-born Justin Sedgmen, who is entering his fifth season with Edinburgh Monarchs, finished a credible fourth.
