The Edinburgh history society, The Old Edinburgh Club has published a new volume of its long-running journal.

Volume 21 of The Book of the Old Edinburgh Club is now available.

This new volume includes original research spanning several centuries, including articles on 18th century views of the city, the preservation of Colinton Bridge, the history of the Café Royal, Methodist leadership in 1911, artistic representations of Port Hopetoun, and the relationship between science and the supernatural in 17th century Scotland.

A book reviews section covers recent publications on the Palace of Holyroodhouse, urban conservation, medical history and New Town society.

This new volume continues the society’s long tradition as a leading forum for new research into Edinburgh’s history, appealing to both scholars and a wider readership with an interest in the city.
