Grange cricket club are promising a changing of the guard both on and off the field this season.
On the field, Robbie McGlasham, in his fifth season with the club, takes over from Angus Brown as 1st XI captain. Angus will still be there to assist Robbie, but so will new recruit Owen Gould, 21, who joins Grange from RHC, having impressed over a number of years in the Eastern Premier League, including stand-out performances against Grange
Wicket-keeper/batsman Owen was recently called up by the national squad for the first time and could make his debut in the forthcoming Cricket World League 2 fixtures and T20 internationals in Namibia.
Owen captained Scotland in the under-19 world cup two years ago.
Another new face will be Bobby Green who joins from Newcastle Cricket Club in the North East (of England) Premier League.
Bobby has been studying veterinary science at Edinburgh University for a number of years according to Grange secretary Ed DuBoulay the club had to fight off competition from a number of Eastern Premiership teams.
Also, Grange are hoping to have the services of two overseas players.
Off the field Director of Cricket John Blain left Grange during the winter months to take up a role with Edinburgh Academy. His replacement is due to be announced soon. Meanwhile, on the Committee, Neil Leitch has taken over from Rawdon Hesketh, Grange’s longest serving President for over a century.
Grange will continue to field four men’s sides and a women’s side in league cricket, plus foster a sizeable junior cricket set up.
