As supporters head to Murrayfield Stadium for the Six Nations, Scotland v France match, they may notice increased police presence around the city as part of Project Servator.
These deployments are highly visible and unpredictable, involving specially trained officers working with partner agencies and local businesses to help keep people safe.
A police spokesperson said: “If something doesn’t feel right, report to staff, security, or a police officer. In an emergency, call 999.”
Project Servator is a policing tactic that aims to reassure the public. It targets criminal activity, including terrorism.
The aim is to make Scotland a difficult place for criminals and terrorists.
Project Servator has been successful in gathering intelligence and has helped Counter Terrorism Units investigate and prevent acts of terror.
It has also resulted in arrests and helped remove firearms, knives and drugs from the streets.
