After more than seven years of dedicated service to the communities of Fife, Forth Valley and Edinburgh, time has come for Police Dog Tora to hang up her harness.
PD Tora has spent her career being out on patrol with her handler, Sergeant Amy Burns. Together they have been protecting the public from harm, responding to incidents and locating vulnerable persons.
In 2022, PD Tora was awarded the First Minister’s Brave at Heart Award following the apprehension of a violent offender. PD Tora was struck by a taser on two occasions, but continued to protect officers and subdue the offender, disarming him in the process.
In 2026, PD Tora was awarded the Police Scotland Animal Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Chief Constable Jo Farrell, for her excellent service to Policing.
PD Tora will retire at home with her handler and transition from a working dog to a much-loved family companion.
A police spokesperson said: “We wish you the best retirement Tora.”
