Now that the Winter Olympics are drawing to a close, it is time for awards season to begin.
On Sunday night the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will announce the winners of their awards from London’s Royal Festival Hall.
The ceremony and the announcement of winners is being announced on a livestream from the BBC, but the actual TV programme will be announced in a recorded programme from 7pm on BBC One.
This year’s ceremony will include the first performance outside the US of “Golden”, the record-breaking track from KPop DemonHunters’, sung by JAE, AUDREY NUNA & REI AMI, the voices of HUNTR/X
Jessie Ware will perform, covering one of Barbara Streisand’s best loved songs in a moving tribute during the In Memoriam – which can only be the Way We Were, remembering the late, great Robert Redford.
Scottish actor, Alan Cumming, is hosting the ceremony, along with around 30 other presenters, including Glenn Close, Minnie Driver and Bryan Cranston, and has arrived at the Hall wearing a suitably dramatic outfit.
The film Hamnet has 11 nominations, and is based on the book by Maggie O’Farrell, an alumnus of North Berwick High School, and Edinburgh local. The story is based on the life of Shakespeare’s family, and O’Farrell planted two ash trees in memory of Hamnet, Shakespeare’s son, and for his wife Judith. She said they had not had a visual memorial since they side 700 years before.The film was adapted by Chloé Zhao and stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, with Emily Watson in a supporting role. The directors Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes joined as producers in August 2024. The film was released in the UK on 9 January.

The 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards will be broadcast at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, and on E! in North America at 8pm ET. The awards will also be available on a number of other broadcasters internationally.
