The Caley Bar at The Caledonian Edinburgh has been given a makeover in recent months and is now relaunched as the capital’s newest listening bar.
This is a space to unwind and relax and immerse yourself in sound. The high-fidelity vinyl music paired with premium drinks is a lovely way to spend a few hours.
The idea comes from Japan and their Jazz Kissa culture, and the bar is now setting itself out as a very Scottish location with a twist.
The bar is designed by Cunningham McLean and weaves musical and textural references into the space, which can be accessed directly from its own door to the street. Vinyl turntables have pride of place as the focal point with booths upholstered with soft seating, and a space at the bar for those who prefer a little interaction. A vast collection of records and live DJ sets ensure the atmosphere evolves throughout the evening, with the music curated to match the rhythm and energy of the bar.
The new cocktails on offer feature clean, crisp flavours with local ingredients. Signature cocktails include Birch, which has birch sap vodka blended with vintage apple eau de vie, birch caramel and green tea infused vermouth. This is then served in a locally made ceramic tumbler embodying the spirit of Scotland’s craftsmanship. The sophisticated bar bites which accompany the cocktails include savoury and sweet dishes.
The bar team uses hard to find bottling of whisky and other spirits offering guests something extraordinary.
Matthew Swan, Food and Beverage Manager at The Caledonian said, “The Caley Bar is all about atmosphere. From the warmth of the lighting to the sound of vinyl spinning through the room, it’s a space where people can slow down, connect and really enjoy the moment. The music, the cocktails, the setting – everything has been designed to feel effortless and inviting.”
The relaunch of The Caley Bar marks the latest in a series of large-scale developments at The Caledonian Edinburgh, following continued investment from owners Henderson Park and management by Klarent Hospitality. The transformation builds on the hotel’s long-standing reputation for innovation and excellence in hospitality, ensuring the landmark continues to evolve while preserving its heritage as one of Scotland’s most iconic destinations.
Open daily from 5pm until late, The Caley Bar sits within The Caledonian Edinburgh at the West End of Princes Street, beneath the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.
