Rogers Mato has put pen to paper on a loan deal with Hearts. He has also met the squad and Derek McInnes, Hearts’ head coach, said: “He made a good first impression.”
McInnes also said the players were looking forward to working with the 22-year-old Ugandan forward who has scored eight goals for his country.
He joins the Jambos on an initial loan from North Macedonian side, FK Vardar, until the end of the season Then, a three-year contract kicks-in.
Mato scored 12 goals in 13 games for Vardar who moved into pole position in their league and McInnes praised the club for securing the deal.
He added: “I’m really pleased that he is here and ready to go. He’s a livewire player, always looking to attack.”
Meanwhile, Andrew McKinlay, Hearts’ chief executive officer, has been appointed vice-president of the Scottish Football Association and will perform his national duties alongside his current role.
