Police Scotland say a 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences on Friday afternoon.
This followed an incident on Hanover Street earlier on Friday afternoon involving the driver of a car which collided with scaffolding causing it to be unstable. Police enquiries are continuing.
Both Hanover Street, and the stretch of Queen Street between Frederick Street and Hanover Street, were closed for about an hour.
At least two fire appliances attended along with more than half a dozen police vehicles to keep pedestrians and traffic away from the scaffolding on the northwestern corner of Hanover Street. The road reopened at 3.50pm, although part of the pavement remains closed.
There were no reported injuries.
