Peter Kildemand urged revamped Berwick Bandits to pick up where they left off when the 2026 Championship roars back.
The two-time Grand Prix winner returned to British speedway racing for the first time in almost a decade last season, his unique style proving a perfect fit for the Borders’ circuit.
However, Berwick missed out on last year’s play-offs by two points but the Danish-born racer is expecting a strong season – home and away – from the revamped R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS.
Nick Morris and Jack Smith join Kildemand from the 2025 team along with new signings Victor Palovaara, Lasse Fredriksen and Jye Etheridge who will skipper the Bandits as he starts his second spell in Berwick colours.
Kildemand told Berwick Speedway’s Total Access podcast: “We have strong heat leaders, but everyone in the seven can dig in and I expect us to be strong, not just at home but on away tracks too.”
He added: “We ended last season strongly but it was bitter sweet as we still missed the play-offs. We need to pick up where we left off in 2026.”
Kildemand will also be racing for Belle Vue in the Premiership after riding for Oxford Spires in last year’s top tier.
“I really like to race to build up the bike fitness so doing two leagues in England along with the Danish leagues is ideal for me.”
He added: “Returning to British racing was a good move and one that I enjoyed. It was an easy decision to return to Berwick in 2026.”
